As Susan works hard to protect your property rights and tax dollars, she works equally as hard successfully representing her clients. SUSAN KNIEP is a life long resident of East Hartford, where her family had founded the Bergren Dairy. Susan lives in the family homestead built in the 1840's with her husband, George. George is a retired engineer of an Ingersoll Rand affiliate. Susan has one daughter, Jennifer, a graduate of St. Joseph College, and teacher. Susan's strong roots ultimately led to her successful election to East Hartford's Town Council in 1983, where she served as Minority Leader until 1989. In 1989, Susan was elected the first woman Mayor of East Hartford where she served until 1993. Susan graduated from Bay Path College, worked for several years in the stock and bond brokerage industry, and had a floral business servicing outlets such as Caprilands, Country Curtains and Crabtee Evelyn. In addition to being a real estate agent with CENTURY 21 Classic Homes of East Hartford and Glastonbury, Susan is also the President of The Federation of Connecticut Taxpayer Organizations, Inc.(FCTO) which on April 1, 2008 will be sponsoring Tax Day at the Capital. The Federation is an umbrella orgaization of concerned taxpayers and taxpayer groups throughout the state. FCTO promotes fiscal austerity on all levels of government with a focus on constraining the tax burden on local and state taxpayers. FCTO also champions causes such as eliminating Eminent Domain and adopting municipal Property Tax Cap. Because of her hardwork on the Eminent Domain issue with Susette Kelo and other in New London which continues today, the Federalist Society has invited Susan to participate in a forum at the Capital on Eminent Domain with the two litigants who took this issue to Supreme Court. Susan's comments can be found at the following website: http://ctact.org/default.asp?callcontent=yes&filename=FederalistFinal.htm&location=Home&buttonname=Home As Susan works hard to protect your property rights and tax dollars, she works equally as hard successfully representing her clients. Recently, Susan represented clients in East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Manchester who purchased or sold a home ranging in price from $219,000 to $675,000. The following is an example of the letters Susan recieves from her satisfied clients... "My dad and I want to thank you for all you did to make the transition of selling his house so easy. As you know, he built that house and has lived in it for almost 56 years. You went above and beyond what most realtors would do. At 93, he needed a little extra hand holding and you always made sure that he was never uncomfortable in any situation he was faced with. Thanks so much for all you did. Lou and Lila.
